RISE UP

Make This the Year of Rising Up

If someone does not respect your time, health, financial well-being, independence, body, or ideas, RISE UP.

Stop saying, “it’s okay.” RISE UP.

Know that preserving someone’s pride is never worth risking the safety of yourself and others. RISE UP.

If you are not recognized or valued for your labor or contributions in your job, family, friendships, or communities, RISE UP.

Normal ≠ Good. RISE UP.

Coercion, withholding the truth, “forgetting” boundaries, inflexibility, and mindlessness are forms of abuse, even if unintentional. RISE UP.

RISE UP. Let yourself be angry. Say no. Draw the line. Know that your reactions inform the cycle.

If we don’t speak up about acts of micro-violence, we normalize violent behaviors and essentially communicate to the perpetrator that we condone their behavior. If you have the energy, save other people from the same violence by speaking out and RISING UP.

The only way to address this as a culture is to address it close to home. RISE UP.
